Salisbury

1 mile to 8.5 miles

We have five walks in Salisbury on the Wiltshire Walks app. The first route is a short 1 mile walk around the city, past the beautiful Salisbury cathedral and a stroll through Market Square with it’s range of shops and cafes. The route also takes you along a short section of the River Avon.

The second Salisbury walk (2.75 miles) is a longer version of the Salisbury cathedral walk that includes the cathedral and market square, but also takes you through the pretty Queen Elizabeths Gardens. The route includes more of the River Avon and also a walk along the Town Path which provides lovely views of Salisbury Cathedral.

The third walk option is a lovely longer 5.25 mile route that explores the historic centre of Salisbury with it's cathedral, shops, eateries and market square. You'll also then head off to the north out of the city visiting the Victoria Park on the way before looping around and following a glorious stretch of riverside walking alongside the River Avon back to the city where you'll resume your city tour.

The fourth Salisbury walk (7.25 miles) is basically an extension to the third route that similarly explores the historic city centre with it's cathedral, shops and eateries and enjoys a long walk alongside the River Avon. However, this extended route also visits the wonderful Old Sarum Castle and the Castle Hill Country Park making this a lovely varied and long adventure around Salisbury.

The final route option is an epic 8.5 mile adventure in and around Salisbury for those of you that want a whole day out exploring the area in and around Salisbury. It explores the city centre and the Harnham Watermeadows like the second route, but this walk also takes you through the woodlands on Harnham Slope, it ambles through the Lime Kiln Way open space and also takes you on a walk around Churchill Gardens with it's pretty riverside walk.

Burcombe Punch Bowl

3.25 miles to 9.25 miles

Burcombe Punch Bowl is 6 miles from Salisbury and we have three walks there to enjoy. The first is a nice circular walk which starts in the lovely village of Burcombe. There are some steep sections on this route and some road walking involved so please take care, however, the views on this walk make it well worth the effort.

The second Burcombe Punch Bowl walk also has the great views but in addition, you get to explore the wonderful woodland on Warren Down.

The third route is an epic 9.25 mile walk which starts in the village and takes you to Burcombe Punchbowl. You will experience great views, woodland paths on Warren Down and lots of nice open countryside. The route also includes a long hike to the lovely village of Croucheston.

Grovely wood

5.5 miles and 8.25 miles

Grovely Wood is 9 miles from Salisbury and we have two walks from this location on the app. The first is a nice walk through the magical Grovely Woods, which is one of the largest woodland areas in the south of Wiltshire. The terrain can be quite hilly so expect a few steep sections.

The second walk is a longer version of the previous route which includes walking through Grovely Woods, however, it also includes an additional 4km along the Monarchs way.

Like the previous route, this walk is quite hilly so come prepared with plenty of energy.

Stratford sub Castle

1.25 miles

Stratford sub Castle is a few miles outside Salisbury and offers a nice short walk around the historic site of the Old Sarum Castle.

It’s an English Heritage property so before you visit, please check for opening times and any charges.

Farley

2.25 miles to 6.5 miles

Farley is 8 miles from Salisbury and we have three walks from this location on the app. The first is just over 2 miles long and is a pleasant stroll around the village where you can find a great pub if you fancy some refreshments. This short route also includes some woodland and nice countryside walking.

The second and third routes are nice circular walks (3.5 miles and 6.5 miles) between the two villages of Farley and Pitton. On these routes you will enjoy natural woodland, open countryside and there is also a pub in Pitton for refreshments.
